Never an episode of question time goes by without some Tory cabinet minister responding to a question about the working class with an “answer” (MASSIVE QUOTATION MARKS) about how the conservatives are the party of the “working people”. The CEO of Goldman Sachs is a working man, do they mean people like him or people like the man who asked the question?
Which of those two benefits from reducing the higher rate of income tax, reducing corporate taxation and easing regulations? Certainly not the audience member. They’re not helping people like him with the bedroom tax, welfare caps or by cutting the funding available to the NHS. The content of this post could well be dismissed as being so obvious as to be pointless, but that doesn’t make it any less true.
